Fionn Downhill – CEO
Fionn is a marketing professional specializing in digital marketing strategy, delivery, and training. She is self-taught, a self-starter, and a successful entrepreneur. Fionn Downhill founded Elixir in 2003 with little more than a passion for search and a desire to deliver results that were beyond expectation. Many years s later, Fionn still has the same passion for search as evidenced by her involvement in the industry and advocacy of best practices. She served on the board of the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization (SEMPO) and was a founding member the SEMPO Institute, which was launched to provide first class training for the search engine marketing industry worldwide.
Fionn is an accomplished speaker on the subject of search marketing and has spoken at Ad:Tech, AMA, Search Engine Strategies, SMX, Searchnomics, American Marketing Association, PRSA and the Society for Women Engineers. She is a subject matter expert in Online Reputation Management and has been interviewed by the Wall Street Journal and Computer Weekly, as well as quoted in the book Radically Transparent. Fionn’s passion for training in the industry led her co-create the curriculum and material for a digital marketing course offered as part of the Global Business MBA program offered by Thunderbird School of Global Management now ASU, where she has been an adjunct professor since 2012.
Dylan Downhill – CIO
Dylan is a renowned expert and pioneer in search engine marketing. His career in search engine optimization and enterprise-class web application development began in 1997. In 2003 he co-founded Elixir after operating his own IT consultancy in England and leading the software development efforts for a major hotel reservation system. At Elixir he has supervised the management of million dollar paid search campaigns in multiple countries and languages, developed e-commerce sites for clients in a range of industries, and was the chief architect of a proprietary reporting and monitoring technology which was spun off into SyCara, Inc., where he also served as CIO for two years. Dylan and his team have worked with most programming languages specializing in PHP, MySQL, WordPress and API development. He has worked with a wide range of eCommerce carts and has developed eCommerce carts for clients using open source and custom solutions.
Dylan was instrumental in the early development of the SEMPO Institute curriculum, creating two of the learning modules of the program that set the standard for search engine marketing training. He has served on advisory councils for Microsoft, Yahoo!, and Google and has been a guest speaker at the Arizona Marketing Association. As part of the Elixir team, Dylan oversees the search and web teams which are responsible for developing and implementing search, social, and web development strategies for all our clients. He holds dual degrees in Electronic Engineering from the British Technology Engineering College and Business from Northern Arizona University.
